There are four main ad types that may appear during or next to your videos when you’ve turned on video monetization:

  1. Skippable Video Ads

Skippable YouTube video ads allow viewers to skip ads after 5 seconds. The ads can be inserted before, during, or after the main video and appears on desktops, mobile devices, TV’s, and game consoles.

2. Non-skippable Video Ads

Non-skippable YouTube video ads must be watched before a video can be viewed. This ad type is 15 or 20 secs in length but it’s important to note that every time your ad comes up, you will pay for it. This ad type is typically used by businesses with bigger budgets and appears on desktops, mobile devices, TV’s, and game consoles.

3. Bumper Ads

Bumper YouTube ads are short, non-skippable video ads of up to 6 seconds in length that must be watched before a video can be viewed. Bumper ads are turned on when skippable or non-skippable ads are turned on. This ad type appears on desktops, mobile devices, TV’s, and game consoles.

4. Overlay Ads

Overlay YouTube ads are 468 x 60 pixel and 728 x 90 pixel overlay image or text ads that can appear on the lower 20% portion of a video. This ad type only appears on desktop and laptop computers.
