What would you say are some creative ways for music video directors to showcase their work and portfolio online?

Excellent question. I would say Vimeo , YouTube, Facebook groups, and Instagram are amazing platforms especially when new content is posted consistently. New audience can be reached with just a few clicks.

Have you seen success promoting your videos with ads to gain more views and traction on platforms like YouTube, Instagram and TikTok?

Yes , I’ve had the most luck with YouTube and Instagram . I’ve gained a small new number of subscribers and followers but most importantly a lot of folks reach out directly to collaborate because they’ve noticed some of the recent work I’ve been putting out .

What strategies can music video directors employ to get their work featured on music blogs, entertainment websites, and other media outlets?

Constantly release, post, and put out creative content. Collaborate with as many artists, creatives as possible.

What would you say the hardest part of your job is?

Wrestling with writer’s block. When it happens, it is a never-ending battle. I always look for new ways to get inspired and motivated. Books, documentaries, and older / newer indie films usually help with that.

In your opinion, what role does collaboration and relationships with musicians and other industry professionals play in the marketing efforts of music video directors?

Relationships are everything. The more I collaborate with creatives and artists, the more I learn and discover different styles of filmmaking and unique stories.
